3 Sept: Symphony - a tool for ecosystem-based Marine Spatial Planning
Sea and Society Talk
Many human activities share the sea and as competition grows, marine and maritime spatial planning (MSP) has emerged as a holistic management model.
In this Sea and Society Talk, Jonas Pålsson from the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management (HaV) will present the digital tool Symphony[MOU1]. It is a transparent and straightforward instrument, to be used in order to understand, illustrate and identify the environmental pressure on marine ecological values. Symphony calculates the cumulative impact from the sum or the average of all pressures. One of the challenges lies in comparing and assessing pressures and effects fairly.
Jonas Pålsson is currently employed as a Senior analyst at the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management (HaV) and has a PhD from the World Maritime University.
