Collaborative partners

The maritime cluster in Western Sweden is a platform for cooperation. The cluster is not a legal person, it consists of a partnership in the form of a "Letter of agreement" for cooperation for a long term sustainable maritime sector.

Collaborative partners in 2018 are Region Västra Götaland, Chalmers University of Technology, University of Gothenburg, RISE, SSPA, Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management and County Administrative Board of Västra Götaland.

Organization

The cluster operated as a project and is led by the Region Västra Götaland in accordance with the Letter of Agreement. The cluster initiative consists of six focus areas. Five of these represent areas of differing marine sectors - seafood, maritime tourism, maritime operations, marine biotechnology and marine energy. The sixth focus area, ocean governance, is horizontal and intersects all focus areas, forming a legal and administrative expert function with strong anchoring in the municipal perspective.

The selection of focus areas has been based partly on the priorities and delimitations made by the EU in the context of the integrated maritime policy, blue growth and the so-called Blue book.
